Rugged Tablets for Pulp and Paper Warehouse Operations: Case Study

Paper and pulp warehouses are unforgiving places for electronics: dust from broke and filler, constant forklift traffic, and inventory that is awkward to count and easy to lose track of. When counts are verified by hand and entered on paper, the data drifts away from the physical stock.

A pulp and paper manufacturer replaced manual verification and paper accounting with the TERVEX I10A, a 10.1-inch Windows rugged tablet mounted on TCM electric forklifts with a RAM ball head and connecting rod.

Challenge: Chaotic Inventory Data and Hard-to-Trace Records

Traditional manual verification and recording of inventory quantities, together with manual accounting, easily lead to chaotic inventory data, difficulty in storing and tracing records, and low efficiency.

The plant needed the physical movement of goods and the record of that movement to happen at the same moment, on the forklift.

Solution: I10A Tablets on TCM Forklifts via RAM Mounts

The I10A runs Windows 11 and the customer's management system at high speed, and is combined with a TCM electric forklift through a RAM ball head and connecting rod.

Before a product is put into storage, forklift drivers use the warehouse management system on the I10A to obtain cargo information, inventory status and operation instructions quickly.

During the work, the driver locates the storage position of goods accurately through the I10A, and obtains information such as shipment quantity, storage space and container by scanning with an external barcode scanner.

After the task instruction is completed, it is reported directly on the tablet, forming a closed-loop warehouse process from task issuance to execution and completion.

The value is not only speed: the barcode scan confirms the goods and the container before the movement is recorded, which is what keeps the record and the physical stock in step.

Results: Closed-Loop Process From Task Issue to Completion

Through the built-in dual-band WiFi and 4G communication module of the I10A, product information and task instructions are obtained quickly and data is transmitted online to the backend system.

The I10A is compatible with the customer's warehouse management system, delivering full-process digital operations from receiving, inspection, warehousing and inventory management to picking, handling and shipping.

The industrial characteristics of the I10A rugged tablet effectively prevent data loss and reduce equipment wear, maintenance costs and labour costs.

FAQ

Drivers locate the goods and scan them with an external barcode scanner on the forklift, then report completion on the tablet, so the movement and the record are created in the same action.

The I10A runs Windows 11 and the customer's management system at high speed, and is compatible with the site's warehouse management system across receiving, inspection, picking, handling and shipping.

The tablet is combined with the TCM electric forklift through a RAM ball head and connecting rod, which is the same mounting approach used across this warehouse fleet.
